"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

what version of exchange.
2000 had a method of accessing email via the file system.
they later realized this was a bad idea.
if you go to the share what do you get?
what is the share name?

IT is Exchange 2003 SP2 running on Server 2003 STD. Share name is Exchange Store which is the same as the folder name.!

was the server an upgrade from 2000?
i would disable the share.  exch 2003 should not need a share for the IS.
no idea how it got there.
