what exactly you get when you try to open file?

I get a Windows dialog box that states.

"Windows cannot access the speicifed drive, path or file. You may not have the approriate permissions to access the item."

the NFS attributes on the server show RWX on owner group and user.

is the nfs share exported as read only on the nfs server? can you copy the file to other folder on windows?

The nfs share is ecported as RW and yes I can copy to another folder and edit.

can you create a file on the shared folder from windows? Have you done the users' mapping between unix and windows users?

AdvwareSupportAuthor Commented:
Yes, I can create a file from windows on that mapped drive. I have just mapped administrator to root and them the main group from unix to the  domain users group on the server.
