I cannot boot my laptop due to BSOD error message.

I have a BSOD and STOP 7B message.  It's a Dell Latitude d620.  I've tried to reisntall XP (repair) using slipstream CD XPSP3, but still get BSOD.  I've tried Recovery Console but don't know Admin Password.

Can you do a full reinstall instead of a repair reinstall, or do you need to keep your data?

Start system and press F12 to run diagnostic test first see if there is error of hard drive or memory? Stop x7B is likely hard drive failure ... if you have other drive, then try see if it helps? You might try download UBCD and run some test as well.

BSOD can come from hardware conflicts. Have you tried starting up your laptop without anything attached to it? like mouse, keyboard, USB memory

admin password : just ENTER, no password, unless you set one for it
with your problem, i would start by testing ram and disk; download ubcd, and run memtest86+, and the disk test you need :   http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Had to do a complete re-install but UBCD did the trick and I managed to save my files.  Seems very stable now.
