BDE on a vista, timestamp error

When starting an old delphi application that needs borland bde on a vista machine, there is an error like timestamp module xxx caused the error, is there a way to configure bde on a vista that stop the error
1 Solution
Well for starters in the BDE administrator itself you should change it to 3.1 compatability mode. This would make the BDE save its settings to an INI file instead of the dreaded registry  because as you probably know, Vista virtualises the registry which often means that changes made to the registry are not always kept the same.
The BDE administrator is usually located at C:\program files\common files\borland shared\BDE\bdeadmin.exe. Run it and go into the options, settings etc , and look for the 3.1 compatability mode.
Next, don't forget to right-click on your application (or its shortcut) and tell it to run it in XP compatability mode (or  whatever else you think might do the trick) - and set it to always run it in this mode.
Hopefully that will do it. If your application came with a "Configuration utility" or anything which helps connect your application to the BDE - you might have to run it again and reconfigure the app.
