My Dell PowerVault LTO4-120 external goes offline in Backup Exec 12

Attached to a Adaptec Sas controller. Windows 2003 std server with sp2.
Tried several drivers, contacted DELL. Firmware versjon 74H6
LTO goes offline every time I try to run backup. It is new, and have never worked.
Can u help me please.

Hi,

ensure that Removable Storage Service is disabled. Ensure that you have the Backup Exec Drivers installed for the Tape drive.

If you have other devices other than the tape drive connected to the SAS controller then best is to connect it to a seperate supported controller and check.

We have just tried to disable Removable Storage Services. Was hopefull.... but still no success. Have problems with upgrading firmware also. Have tried several tools for upgrading. But get error messages like Fail and Unexpected data.  Have installed Symantec driver. In device manager: LTO shown as IBM Ultrium 4 Tape Drive, but with driver profile Symantec Corporation (version 5.1.34.0).
Anything else?
