Bootable Antivirus for Boot sector?

Hello All! This is Apoorva from India, Mumbai.

Well, off-lately, my Desktop WDC Sata HDD is creating lots of problems for me. It comes and goes off repeatedly, I mean to say that when I "Power On" my PC, at times, this SATA HDD gets detected and at times, it doesn't.

The last few things I did on my desktop PC after which this problem striked are:

1. Started Adobe Photoshop CS4 installation (Downloaded from www.adobe.com) Trial.

2. Started dowloading softwares from a torrent site using UTorrent.

Kept these 2 tasks on, turned the monitor off and went to sleep.
In the morning, when I turn on my monitor, I see the following message:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM".

I followed troubleshooting steps provided at Microsoft link:

(How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

after which my PC did manage to reach the desktop but all of a sudden, it restarted automatically again and with the same error message as mentioned above.

Therefore, what at this point of time I am looking forward to is a Boot Sector Antivirus which I can execute from a CD. So, I would like to scan Boot sector and entire HDD for viruses at DOS level (Since I am unable to reach the desktop, nor I can see the XP Boot logo).

Therefore, this antivirus needs to be a bootable one.

If anybody on this forum can help me escape this issue, I would be much glad!

Regards,
Apoorva.
