Dv 1000 shut down problem

Hello,

I have an HP Pavillion Dv 1000 that shuts down after a few seconds after XP setup disk gets to the point where you can load a new OS or do  a repair.  I can let it boot to the BIOS and it will stay there forever without shutting down. I tried taking the hard drive out and the same thing happens completely shuts down after it setup gets to the point of doing a repair.  Does this sound like the CPU or motherboard? I also swapped my memory and tried different slots and removed the wireless card, that did nothing either.  Any direction would be great!

Thanks,

Compucharley
