How do I separate Exchange 2007 from my PDC?

Today I have a Primary Domain Controller (PDC) (HP Proliant) with
- Win Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 SP2
- Active Directory, RRAS and DNS
- Exchange Server 2007 SP1
- Forefront Security for Exchange Server SP1

The server needs more memory to cope and I recently found out that one of the memory banks on the memory board is defect so I can't install enough memory. I have now desided to buy a new server to which I want to move Exchange and Forefront. When those two softwares are uninstalled from my first server, that server is more than good enough to keep acting as a PDC with the AD, RRAS and DNS (since I do NOT want to move these parts).

Whats the best practise for doing this? I read somewhere that installing Exchange on a PDC makes changes to the AD... Can I accomplish my plan without to much fuss?

Greatful for advice! =)

Hi,
Install Exchange 2007 on a new Box and move mailboxes and PF from old server to new.
Monitor components, see if Mail flow is fine, also things like OWA/Outlook client connectivity etc is working fine then go ahead and uninstall 2007 from the first server.
BTW how many servers do you have, I would recommend setup a virtual lab and test it using Virtual PC to do a hands on first !
Thanks

Hi, and thanks for the respons!

It's the two servers (or soon to be anyway) that I will use for these applications.

I think that i'm mostely after that someone can say from own experience that uninstalling Exchange 2007 from my PDC will not mess anything up with my AD.

How do I go about setting the new Exchange as the primary mail server before uninstalling the old one?
