Joining a Vista Laptop with domain
I have a laptop I am trying to join to a Windows Server 2003 domain. I ran nslookup domain.com and received a good IP for the dns server. My DC has DNS and DHCP configured on it. I succesfully joined the domain with another pc on my network that is running XP SP3. I have TCP/IP configured with the proper DNS IP address. FOr the life of me I can't figure out what I'm missing. Help?
try using the fqdn of the domain such as domain.local, etc... For the administrator (or another domain account you use with admin priveldges) try domain.com\administrator.

I get the following error:
An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain.
I have the IP properties set to look at the IP address of the DC for primary DNS. I can ping the DC by IP address or by name.

The only firewall installed is the windows firewall. I turned it off just to test and it made no difference. This laptop is brand new. Drivers are all up to date as far as I can tell. When I go to network the LT sees all of the machines connected to the Physical network, half of which are still on the workgroup and two of which did join the domain just fine.
