Just my luck, the hard drive quits after I unplug it.

I installed a new computer for a client yesterday and was happy to get rid of there Windows 98 computer. I turned it off and opened the case of the old computer. I took out the hard drive and plugged it in to the new computer as a slave. Nothing! I could read it in BIOS or Windows. I plugged it back in the the original computer and nothing. Operating system not found! Not detected in BIOS.
I have tried switching the jumper.
The hard drive spins and no ticking sound.
Does it sound like a trip to the data recovery company for thousands of dollars.
How do I tell my client, it was working when I was there.
I must have the magic touch!

This was the only drive in the system and I have tried the secondary IDE slot and I have also checked the jumpers and they are correct.
The BIOS can't recongized the drive any more so I am thinking it is a dead drive. I tried to locate an exact drive on the web and can't find any.

Thanks,
I have used that method in the past and works for drives that have the tick of death. Not in this case though.
