Blue Screen After Joining Domain
I am currently setting up a HP 6510b notebook pc for a user.
Specs:
Windows XP Sp2 (and 3)
1.8ghz C2duo
2GB DDR2
120GB HD
Broadcom Gigabit NIC(current drivers, but tried older versions as well)
Intel Wireless 802.11b/g (tried while disabled/enabled)
I have ran stress tests on all of the hardware, memory, CPU, NIC, and HD - all passed.
Basically, the computer bluescreens after rebooting as prompted when I join the domain.
It will NOT blue screen under these conditions:
1. network cable is not plugged in - on the domain.
2. network cable is plugged in after full startup - on the domain
3. network cable plugged in and on a workgroup
The only time it will blue screen, is when the network cable is plugged in and active, and is placed within the domain. I can unplug the ethernet cable, wait for the computer to fully boot, then plug the cable in and it works just fine.
I am completely stumped here. I have tried disabling various items during startup, all to no avail. It does with SP3 and SP2.
I have tried updating the bios, and all of the drivers. I am not finding a newer bios for the NIC card.
Here is the error code I am getting from the system log:

Sounds like your network adapter has intermittent issues and is failing at the point when it joins domain. check you have correct driver installed if so plug in a usb network adapter and attempt to join domain through that adapter. Just because its a laptop does not rule out specific component failure from main board. Also HD may have bad sectors and is blue screening when trying to read to that sector. If usb lan still causes blue screens then try popping in another drive and reinstall. Blue screens are usually driver related or defective hardware.

I've reformatted and reinstalled it several times, trying different variables. I did do a full virus scan using Norton and AVG, both came back clean.
I will try booting using another adapter and see if it works.
Points increased to 500.

Was this machine or NIC joined to the domain before?
Maybe you have stale DHCP records or something, although
I don't think that would cause this issue its worth considering.

This was a brand new pc, from our supplier, never on our network.
It does it with the wireless adapter also, so its not a NIC hardware problem.
I'm going to check the logs on the domain controller and see if anything turns up, but I am totally stumped at this point.
