Acer Aspire 1350 Having issues with proper CPU Speed
I have a used Acer Aspire 1350 laptop. We are having problems with it utilizing the CPU properly. It is showing it running at 796 MHz. It is an AMD Athlon XP-M 2600+ CPU. It's running on DDR 333 Memory. I downloaded the powernow dashboard and it shows it running at max speed and voltage and all I get in system properties is 796MHz. When I turn the power management to laptop/notebook it goes down to 318 so powernow is working properly. But it is supposed to be a 2.0GHz CPU and it won't go any higher than 796MHz. Thanks in advance for any help.

monitor the cpu temp with : http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
if it has over temp, it may step the speed down...

CPU-Z is showing 1990 MHz. I wonder why Windows refuses to see it at anything past 796? I have updated windows to SP3 and it still sees is at 796MHz...
If CPU-Z says it is running at 1990 MHz, I am more inclined to believe it than Windows, as it was written to handle many cpu details. Perhaps you need to update the processor driver, because there were some recognition problems with certain AMD chips. Try AMD's CPUID utility to see what it says: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_9706,00.html

The america download page isn't working. I'm afraid to use a bios from europes download page. So I'm stuck for now. I had thought of that but I just don't want to risk it not being the correct bios.
>> I'm afraid to use a bios from europes download page << they are the same..

Was never able to get their europe download to work either. I am giving up on this. CPU-z recognized it. The customer came in and tested out his kids game on it and it works great. Windows is just bein a pain! It's sold so I'm closing this question.
