Cannot log into Domain - Your user Profile was not loaded correctly

I have Vista Ultimate 32 bit. This is my main computer and it has run perfectly since I bought it and installed Vista almost 18 months ago. I recently added a SBS 2003 server into the equation. I created an account for myself on the SBS 2003 server. I rebooted both computers and attempted to log into Desktop with my Domain credentials.
Every time I log in I get get an error message saying that "Your User Profile was not loaded correctly. Changes made to this profile will be lost when you log off. Please see the event log for details or contact your administrator.

My log on attempt is not creating an User Directory under C:\Users. The other account that I use has had no issues. My account is configured as an Administrator account.

What do I do to enable login onto the domain?

A. Just like Windows XP, after installation Vista is part of its own workgroup. To make it a member of a domain, perform these steps:

   1. Open Control Panel (Start, Control Panel).
   2. Select System and Maintenance.
   3. Click the System section, as the figureshows.
   4. . In the "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings" section, click the "Change settings" link, as the figureshows.
   5. If you're prompted by the User Account Control module to continue, click Continue, as the figureshows.
   6. In the Computer Name tab of the properties, click the Change button.
   7. In the "Member of" section, select Domain and enter the name of the domain and click OK.
   8. You'll be prompted for an account with rights to join the computer to the domain. Enter the details and click OK, as the figureshows.
   9. Click OK to the welcome dialog box.
  10. Click OK to the notice that the machine will be rebooted.
  11. Click Close to the dialog box.
  12. Click Restart Now to the restart prompt.

Once the reboot is complete, the machine will be part of the nominated domain.

I am sorry for not being complete on my original post. I have performed these steps. The login screen does show the domain name
just to be sure, you went to active directory and added the user you want to logon to?
Yes, The user and permissions are set up on the server and the Desktop is part of the domain
was this an upgrade to vista from xp?
No, I have Vista Ultimate 32 bit OEM
is there any other computers on the network with the same name?
No. At the moment there is only the server and 1 desktop
can you login as the domain administrator account or another domain user?
My problem was solved using this technique:
1. Restart your PC to release the locks on your profile.
2. Log on with another administrative account
3. Delete C:\Users\%username%
4. Delete C:\Users\TEMP
5. Delete the registry key matching your SID from
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList". Check the value "ProfileImagePath" to make
sure you pick your own profile.
6. Restart once again and then you're done!

Hope this helps someone using domain accounts instead of local ones!
