IE not working, "website found" but doesn't display the page

I have a workstation that is having a problem with IE. We we open IE, status bar at bottom says "wesbite found, waiting for reply" and it just sits there. The workstation next to this problem one can browse the internet w/o issue. The website we are trying to access is google.com, but have tried many others, no luck. Ran windows defender scan, nothing found and no luck. Have disabled ALL add-ons one by one and tested in between, no luck...

This workstation can access the network drives and his exchange mailbox is up and running OK, so a bit confused on where to look for the problem, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Are you running thru a proxy?  If so check the proxy settings in Tools--internet options--Connections--Lan Settings.  The proxy address and port it operates on (typically 80 or 8080) should be entered.

Also worth noting, Security settings... trusted sites a concern for your network?

ASKER

My apologies, no proxy server
The fact that network drives, exchange, and other network resources are available point to either a proxy/firewall problem or Web browser settings..  I would suggest running ipconfig /release and /renew but again...the other network resources are available so that shouldnt be a problem.

you may even try ipconfg /flushdns if DNS is a problem?
Windows firewall has been turned off during my tests, let me give the flushdns a try...
ipconfig /flushdns would be my first try here

is this like a home/private network thing you got going on?
are you using home networking stuff? linksys routers, cable/dsl modems?
Small biz, T1 data, Cisco router, 3com switches(unmanaged), all Win servers, no ISA server.
If you do an Ipconfig /all, does all the address match the workstation next to you?

DHCP Server (if IP assignment is dynamic)
DNS Server(s)
Gateway Server(s)
IP address (should be different of course)
