Hide appointment details in resource calendars

I've set up Outlook resource calendars for direct booking by creating an Exchange mailbox for each resource, then used Outlook to log directly into the resource mailbox and set the Resource Scheduling options in Tools | Options | Calendar Options. Then I granted the 'Author' role on the Calendar folder to everyone I wanted to be able to book the resource.
Currently everyone can see the details of the appointments scheduled in the Resource calendars. I would like to hide the details from their view.  Is there a way to do this on the system level?  I believe if the meeting organizer marks the appointment as "private" before sending the meeting it will hide the details, but I wasn't sure if it works for resource calendars since the users already have "author" level permissions.

Ideally a user would only have reviewer permissions on a resource calendar.

Then they would create the booking in their own Calendar, Inviting the Resource.

The Resource Calendar would be setup to automatically accept bookings if available or decline a booking if there are any conflicts.

Then any appointments marked as private. Will remain private to all other users.

Giving "Reviewer" permission on the resource calendar will give users READ permissions to the calendar events and thus does not solve my problem of hiding the details of each calendar event.

Also, once you change the permissions from "Author" to "Reviewer", users can not book the resource any longer because they need WRITE permissions to create events in the calender.
If a user has only reviewer permissions on a calendar, any and all appointments, other than the ones they created, marked private will not show its details.

Its best that users dont book appointments directly into a calendar or resource.
But make the appointment in their own calendar and invite the resource.

This is the best way, perhaps the only way, to acheive what you want in making such "private" bookings in an Outlook Calendar.

If I set the permissions on the resource calendar to "Reviewer", the meeting organizer receives the following error:  (see JPG image attached)

Is this appointment is being made directly in Your Calendar?
Or are you tyring to book this meeting directly into the Meeting Resources Calendar?

Hi apache, thanks for the post even after I awarded points.
However, when I try what you suggest, I get the following pop up which looks to me like it is going to move the meeting to the new date and not make a copy of it.
