asked on

how to handle mac osX 10.5 Leopard DMG file image

I have MAC server that already have os version 10.2.
I need to upgrade it for my developing purpose.

I'm only know how to re-format windows os.

but i really dont know how to work on apple server. I'm a newbie.

My problem is, i'm already have an image os file xxxx.dmg. How to make it copy to DVD because my single DVD only 4.7gb. But that image 6.06gb. I want to burn that dvd in my windows, then boot it on my mac and install.

Some people say convert it to iso first. How to make it as 2(two) copies for 6gb size.

OR, any others way to make it posible. All i want is upgrade to a new version by using my xxxx.dmg file.

Hi,

I would say the best way would be to burn a double layer dvd. So you have only on disc (which is good for the installation). Nearly every Windows burning tool (Nero, Roxio ....) has built-in support for DMGs (since there are just ISOs). You burn it on a double layered DVD on a Windows PC.

In Mac, use Disk Utility to burn dmg to DVD/CD

For 6.06Gb, you must use double layer DVD  ( 8Gb)

Also make sure that dmg contain BOOTABLE image. Otherwise, you can not boot with burnt DVD.
