Outlook 2007 - cannot turn off the reminder. you may be reminded again

I have OUtlook 2007 running on Windows XP SP2.  every time i open outlook, i get prompted with an error message when i clear my reminders - it says:  "cannot turn off the reminder. you may be reminded again".
The meeting in question does not exist.
I have tried the outlook /cleanreminders from the commad line several times to no avail.  Any ideas?
thanks

close outlook and wait a couple of minutes.

Click start menu then click run

In the run box type this outlook.exe /CleanReminders
Try starting Outlook with the /CleanReminders switch.

Oops see wacarr already suggested it. Well he's right ;)

Seasons Greetings!
If problem still persists -
- Are you in AD environment [Some GP might be affecting your Otlook 2007]
- Since when it has been comming up with the prompt ?

I ran into this same exact problem before also.  The problem is not that you are not clearing out the reminders correctly.  The reason the reminder keeps coming back is because there is an email that was an invitation that is still in your inbox.

Look through your mail and find the message and delete it.  The reminders will go away.

thanks forrestw - I located the meeting invite and deleted it, then deleted it from the recover deleted items folder.  There was also an email with the same subject - I deleted that as well. After deleting the files,  i ran the outlook /CleanReminders command.  The meeting appointment is still coming back.  If i try to open the meeting, I get the following message- see attached screenshot:  "cannot open the item for this reminder.  Cannot locate recurrence information for this appointment."
