Remove Adobe Acrobat serial

I have bought a Mac on Ebay which has Adobe Acrobat 8 installed. I have my own licenced copy of the software which I wish to install instead. I tried to do this but the old serial number reappears after I install the new copy and I can't enter my own serial number. Is there any way I can do this without re-formatting the whole hard drive and starting again (which will take ages)?

I am not sure about the Mac version but it seems that the Windows Version had a setting that would allow for the relocation of the software. If it is consistent with the other Adobe applications this will be the case.
Look under the "Help" Menu to see if there is a "Deactivate..." option. If there is use it.

Thanks jgmontgo.

There is no "Deactivate..." option, only "Registration...", but that just takes me to Adobe.com to fill in details.
