Which version of Outlook?
Is this Outlook 2007?

Password prompts are probably coming from the autodiscover directory or process.
Ensure that it is looking at the right server. If you are using Outlook 2007 then hold down CTRL while you right click on the Outlook icon and choose Test Autoconfiguration. Then enter the email address and see what is returned. If you don't have your DNS setup correctly then Outlook can try and look at an external server in error.

Solved. It is nothing to do with the server, its the test machine. Removed the entries from control panel->users accounts->advanced and the issue went any. Thanks for your help.
