Fedora, CentOS or Ubuntu ?


Hello group,

 What is the difference between having CentOS, Fedora and Ubuntu? does it matter?

They all vary a bit in the packages they include, the installation method, the hardware they support, the administration etc.

Selecting one of them depends on any personal preferences and what you want to do with it.

CentOS is better suited as a server platform
Fedora is better is you are familiar with Linux and like the latest and greatest
Ubuntu is better for beginners, but there is also a server edition available.

What matters to me is that I'm trying to learn compiling kernel and also start learning Kernel programming. Which one is better then?

HI,Centos, Fedora and Redhat is Similier,

you would be able to use any article or documentaion for Redhat to any Centos or Fedora  and vice versa.
