How to clone a vistaprint style editor

Hello,
I have need to build a ticket designer web application. Basically on the left site I'll have a bunch of fields the user can drag to a canvas. Very similar to the vista print business card creator.
I was curious how I would even start this? Ajax, JAVA, Flash? Has anyone made this and made it part of an ajax example?
This would need to tie into a asp.net C# page. So I would rather not go the java or flash route.
