Cisco Switch 2950-24 - TFTP update giving Socket error

Cisco Switch 2950-24
Connected via f0/24 to FTP server (10.20.30.40)
Commands via console.
#copy flash tftp
#source filename []? c2950-i6q412-mz.121-22.EA2.bin
Address.. 10.20.30.40
.....
%Error opening tftp://10.20.30.40/c2950-i6q412-mz.121-22.EA2.bin (Socket Error)

Tried the same procedure on 3 switches (All 2950-24) same result.
Tried copying vlan.dat, running-config - same result.

Connected Router (f0/1 - 10.20.30.42/ 24) ----Switch (f0/12) ---- TFTP server (10.20.30.40/24)
From Router - copy tftp flash, copy run flash etc ALL works perfectly.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

please close firewall or anti virus port scanner on your TFTp Server. TFTP port is 69.

Faruk Onder YerliOwnerCommented:
UDP 69

Firewall turned off.
No antivirus installed.
Absolutely fresh windows. No other s/w.
Tried adding port 69 also.
Same result.

As such TFTP works well with Router (as mentioned in the question).

Can there be some problem in cables?
Ping from Router geting dropped infrequently.
I tried this.

another PC ---- Router ----- Switch ----- TFTP
PC - 10.20.30.50
Router 10.20.30.42
Switch VLAN 1 - 10.20.30.100
TFTP 10.20.30.40

From PC - ping 10.20.30.40 -t
Randomly dropped ping.
Shall replace all cables tomorrow and try again.

Thanks.

I am sorry but you are keeping info. We are just losing time. send configuration me.
Also Cable may have problem. But you cannot ping switch from any where. and you can use tftt server from router trough switch. cable looks ok.
Your switch has problem. please send me what i ask you. also log file.

bankimjAuthor Commented:
Sorry for the delay.
Cables were surely the problem as random ping drops from PC to TFTP server as mentioned before. Replaced all of them.
Erased the switch and reconfigured.
TFTP reinstalled.
Things working ok now.
I really appreciate your efforts and help.
Thank you very much.
