I have a windows server 2003 that keeps rebooting itself. It loads into the initial windows login screen and then just before the login screen apears it reboots again and it keeps doing this. I suspect that someone has shutdown my server while it was on. this is a server that is in a remote site so driving there tommorow to fix it.
I have tried F8 and choosing ' Last known good configuration' with no luck( relaying message to person there). cant get in via safe mode either or safe mode with networking.
Now i have had this on a windows XP machine and i ran a recovery via the switch c: chkdsk /r and that fixed the problem. Can this be used on a windows server SBS 2003 standard R2 machine? I dont think it will go through all the setup disks - will it?
Also they have lost all my OS cd's which was awsome news to me!!!! I have however got SBS 2003 standard SP1 disks. Could i use that to run this switch. I am hoping a full reinstall is not needed and want to avoid it as much as i possibly can.
Is there any other ideas in case i am missing something.
