Symantec Ghost 11.02 - Computer won't boot off restored image

We attempted to restore an image to a hard drive using ghost 11.0.2. When we put the hard disk in the computer, the OS will not boot. It just sits at a blinking command prompt. We've tried several different images and all of them do this. We've also tried several different hard drives. We can get the PC to boot off of a drive with an OS loaded. Any suggestions?

One reason could be that the wrong partition is set as active within your ghost file...

The first thing I would do is hook up that ghosted hard drive to my own laptop using a USB to IDE or SATA adapter, and have a look what's there.

You don't mention which OS, but I'll assume it's some form of Windows. If your pc has Windows too, and you connect the hard drive that way, you will see the drive's partitions and assigned drive letters in Windows' Disk Management (drive letters will get assigned to all partitions that Windows recognizes), and by running "gdisk32.exe" from the command line (it's in the Ghost folder, if you have Ghost installed on your pc, otherwise you can just copy that single program to your pc).

There you will already learn a lot, probably. If it's indeed just a wrong active partion, you can activate the right partition in Windows Disk Manager, or again using gdisk32.exe.

Please let us know what you find out.
PS. "It just sits at a blinking command prompt." Do you mean an empty screen with blinking cursor, or really a DOS kind of command prompt where you can type things?
Did you clone in steps below:
- copy disk to disk
- copy MBR
- set drive active
- do not assign drive letter
If not, try again.

Check if the system volume is set active. And then check the Boot.ini file on new drive.
Good article of Microsoft: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457123.aspx
I use Drive Backup 9 for backup\restore goals and if such problem happens there is always Boot Corrector tool you can treat your system with. Includes all necessary options like:
Update MBR
Update Partition Boot Record (BCD)
Correct Drive Letter
Edit Boot.ini

Is there such utility in your Ghost version?
