raid5 became raid0 for no reason

I have dual 3ware 9550sx-12 raid cards that were each configured to use raid5.  The OS is fedora core 4.  The server is configured to use LVM2 to create a single logical volume from the dual raid 5 cards.   Suddenly for no apparent reason the server became inaccessible, so I rebooted into the 3BM 3ware bios manager to have a look at the disks and it now says that both raid controllers are configured using raid 0.   ???? how does that happen?   I called 3ware, but all the second level engineers are on vacation.  I did a verify on all disks and they are all in good shape.  I can no longer boot into the OS, so I used a live CD in an attempt to see what's on the disks.  It looks like the partitions and data are on there and the disks are still saying they are LVM. But I can't be sure because I haven't been able to mount the LVM volume with the live CD OS.   I'm not sure what to do at this point.  I have limited experience with recovering LVM and no experience with recovering a raid 5 that became a raid 0.
Any ideas on how I might proceed to mount the LVM configured disks using the Live CD OS?
