Are there any other errors in the event logs?

Those are the three that look like they have something to do with it.
{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \Device\LanmanRedirector. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

here is another one in the application event view
i would like to know : did you backup the file directly to the network drive  or locally ?

If it was over the network/External Drive, I would suggest trying locally as it may be a connection issue.

It was over the network...But I think I found my problem.  The permissions in the folder the mailbox stores were in only had system, local admin and domain admin.  I added creator owner and the backup finished.  I hope that was it.  Thanks for your help.
I had to add creator owner with full permissions
