Cannot launch hyperlink in either email (outlook) or word

When I open an email and try to launch the link I get a 'Locate Link Browser' window that defaults to 'look in' my documents.  I went to file types and for htm and html assocaited those types with IE.  This made a small difference but opened up with errors.  When I copy paste link directly to IE it works.  Now when I created some links using MS Word, and launched link I got an error: unable to open http://www.hp.com/.  No programregistered to open this file.  This is one of my users home PC's so I'm not getting a lot of info other than "it happened one day and I don't know why."

Hey War1, sorry it's taken so long to get back to you but this was put on the back burner until today. Now I tried all of your resolutions to no avail but the one where you edit the registered file types gave me more information to better understand the issue. Like I said the user was way too vague so why did it stop working was never sucessfully addressed. However, once I clicked was playing around in the 'registered file types', I clicked on URL itself and opened it up to find that Mozilla was the application used.  Looking quickly in the program files I saw Mozilla was not there.  I then reinstalled Mozilla and viola problem gone. I could not however, see how to take IE and make it the default program and most likely had I put Iexplore in the properties within the URL file type that would have worked.

jumper14k, glad the problem is fixed. Thanks for the points.
