How Do I print a word doc from an attachment field in a report in Access 2007
I found one user who gave up and just decided to use ole instead of the attachment field, I would really like to print the document in a report instead of the Icon if anyone has any ideas. I have looked everywhere and can find no reference
I have access 2003 handy, but it does sound similar to a piece we have here. The field that stores the attachment, if you go into design view of the table, what is the datatype? OLE Object?
nomoney,
You cant print Directly from the attacment Field.
You have to open the file.
- RightClick the Attachment Field
- Select "Manage Attachment"
- Select the file

I'm playing with Access 2007 now. Attachement datatype does not appear to be created to do "exactly" as you want it. Jeff is correct. Also see http://www.cimaware.com/resources/article_135.html
To all,
Funny thing is that Attachment Image files will display in a report.

Thanks, I got in a "let's use something new and cool" loop and needed someone to get me out of it. I'm getting to old for this. : ) LOL
;-)
There are some advantages to using the Attachment datatype, though
The best being that now the files get compressed internally.
Most developers still prefer to link the data rather than use OLE or Attachment datatypes.

Jeff-
I was trying to allow easy doc additions for the customer and unfortunately did testing with images and as you mentioned they worked, so duh, I didn't get around to testing the doc's until the customer was testing, so popping an ole field seemed a quick fix, but now per your suggestion I'm contemplating how to make a link easy for them to use. This is a small customer with only a few doc's that would ever be stored per client, but I shouldn't limit the customer.
Thanks again
