Properly Remove Roaming Profiles
Hello All,
I have a client that is using Windows 2003 SBS with XP Pro Clients. They have setup roaming profiles but are having a lot of issues with them. When Logging on or off from the network it will take 20 to 30 minutes. They have asked me to remove the roaming profiles. What is the best way to accomplish this? I looked around and have found various recommendations but not sure what is the best or proper way of doing this. Thanks

I would use the My Computer>properties>Advanc ed>User Profile "Settings" to remove them, this should also get all the reg keys.

Does anything need to be done in Active Directory at all?

Yes, the profiles need to be removed from the local machine, but als ConSolIT is right about the AD part.
Why would the profiles on the machine need to be deleted? if they are deleted all the users data is gone and they will have to start out with a new blank profile. I have done this hundreds of times and never had to delete a local profile when stopping the roaming.

I tried with one user removing the profile path they had on there account. Didn't seem to work. I'm iffy about removing the local profile though because don't want to lose any of there profile stuff they have.

When i go into the computer the user logs on I check the profiles loaded on the system and see there profile listed as a Local profile now of 507MB. But nothing looks abnormal..
Sounds like you got it.
