Create Rounded Rectangle cut-out

Hi everyone

Before we start let me say I have only ever used Photoshop to tune photos, so I'm a complete noob concerning everything else.

So Pants, what do you want to do? I want to create a 'frame' that I can place over photos so that it seems the photo has rounded corners.

I have a gradient image that is 760px x 305px. I want to make a centred cut-out of 740px x 285px that will show whatever photo is placed behind it.

Can you help me out here? You'll need to be gentle with me as I have no idea what I'm doing.

Many thanks in advance.

First create a new image with the size 740x285 and then use the rectangular marquee tool and outline the entire image with it.
Once that is done, drag it into the original image and then push delete to cut out the space.
then push cntrl + J where you would want to cut it out, and then push the eye in the background to not see the image.
Now use pentool and what you do is click one of the sides tipically close to the corner and then click on the corresponding side and HOLD and then drag to find a curve that you like and then keep on clicking until u reach the start point and then push delete to get rid of it to give you one round corner. Then repeat
Once that is done, univnisible the entire gradient, and then right click-> select pixels on the rounded square image and then click the gradient layer, and then delete :)
