Wireless Connection Not Available

Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop. Even though the wireless card seems to be working properly it does not find any wireless networks. Other wireless laptops locate and connect to these available networks and when I use an external card the computer in question will connect to the networks. Is the wireless card bad or is there something else I should be looking at?

Thank you!

Perhaps the antenna connection came loose.

Right-click the adapter in Network Connections and choose Properties.
On the Wireless Networks tab, click the Advanced button... you should get a screen like the attached.
Ensure the 'ad hoc' option's radio button is not selected, or infrastructure devices won't even be detected.

While you're there, ensure the option outlined in red is UNchecked. :-)

OK, we checked all of the above settings with no change. Any other suggestions?
Is the antenna switch turned on?  When it's on, the wireless indicator will be lit.

Did you open the cover of the mini-PCI compartment (see attached) and see if the antenna is still connected as wannab3 suggested?

If the laptop got dropped the card could have actually popped out of the retaining clips, too.

I will double check all of those things as soon as I get back to this computer. It is a laptop that is at school and we currently have enough snow that school has been canceled. Hopefully by Friday.
School was again canceled on Friday due to the weather and Monday is a holiday so I will check the suggestions later in the week.
