Configure Email (DNS settings) for hmailserver
We're trying to configure email (for hmailserver). We're not sure what is configured correctly or not in the DNS file. This is what we have. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and what is correct?

Who is managing the registration? Go Daddy? The different companies have different registrations, if you can believe that, which further complicates matters...

godaddy
if you're hosting your own mail, you won't need any of the secureserver.net entries.
Also, make sure the firewall of the mail server is forwarding the right ports for smtp, pop, dns, and imap (if using imap).
Can you send/receive mail? Are you getting errors?
ASKER
OK. So I should go ahead and delete these entries but could this be causing problems to? Is there anything not configured correctly?

I'm using Thunderbird and I can send and receive messages to myself through the hmailserver. However, I changed "Server Name" from "mail.newtech.biz" to "newtech.biz" for both POP3 and SMTP. However, I have yet to receive a message from another host (hotmail and gmail) or successfully send a message from hmailserver to another server.

Update: I received a message sent from my server to my hotmail account, went to my junk mail. However, I still have received a message from a hotmail or gmail.
To get out best, you'll wanna tell your isp to setup reverse dns so that your ip address (outta be static) points to your mail.newtech.biz.
This is how big email companies validate email from small fries like us.
Dns is looking good, but you're going to have to setup that firewall to get messages into your mail server.

Aol is the worst. I don't like the service, but many people use it. You'll have to do reverse dns to send to aol accounts.

Firewall on the computer is down at the moment, so there should be no problems there. The Router is setup as follows:
POP3 (port 110) ALLOW always 193.168.1.53 Any Never
SMTP (port 25) ALLOW always 193.168.1.53 Any Never
The only problem is receiving messages from another server. The IP address is static.
Does this statement still apply:

Yup. They have to update their records, which you cannot do.

So this is why I cannot receive email messages from hotmail or gmail, because of validation.

Maybe. Definitely for sending. With receiving its a little more complicated. You've got to have an open 25 on your firewall forwarded to the smtp server and no blockage from the ISP either (which they commonly do to prevent Trojan spamming).
Looking up the IP address should resolve to Domain PTR mail.newtech.biz
21.231.151.72.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer adsl-072-151-231-021.sip.b ct.bellsou th.net.
Also, mail.newtech.biz does not resolve back to that IP address.
If that is the correct IP address of your mail server, then you set the MX record to adsl-072-151-231-021.sip.b ct.bellsou th.net. However that IP does not answer SMTP connections.

You can't set your MX records to bellsouth!
Why not? Please explain!
