I manage a Sharepoint site that was created by a former employee/consultant. On 1/7/09 as  new year I started to do some clean up of old accounts which were no longer in use, which included the consultant. I just noticed that I've been getting WSS 3 ID 6398 error in the application log every 5 minutes ever since I deleted that account.  I thought I had moved every services to a service account, the site still works. I'm afraid to restart IIS or reboot the server.  When I browse Sharepoint Admin Central site I can only access the Home tab, the other two come up with Error: "Some or all identity references could not be translated."

I saw another thread that recommend the following command for semilar issue
"stsadm.exe -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin <domain\user> -password <password>"
i'm not sure of it.  My search works by the way.
