connect NAS to private network of Wintel server to piggyback on MS Ldap authentication

I bought a simple NAS which has no Windows integration, thus this NAS can't
join the Windows domain.

As such we have to create separate NAS ids (managed from within the NAS
but these ids password can only be changed by the NAS administrator & not
by the users themselves).

Thus I'm planning the following :
a) Use a cross network cable to connect up this NAS to a Wintel server's LAN
port directly  (which is part of Windows domain)
b)the NAS has no security control : ie complete access of the whole volume
   to this server
c) then this Wintel server shared out this NAS volume to users on the domain

Thus, users will only need to remember the Windows domain id/password.

Anyone foresee any problem with this method (performance, security -wise)?

Any other inputs/configuration suggestions would be most welcome.

I used a DLink DNS323  which has no Windows domain/LDAP integration
(yes, the high end NAS like Netgear has this feature
