Enable Cisco router's logging as "show log" showed nothing

Hi,

When we issued "show log"  nothing was shown.

What's the commands that we need to enter to enable back logging so
that when there's link/adjacency up/down, "show log" would log the
incidents.

Anyway we can specify how days or how many MBytes of logs to keep
besides redirecting it to a syslog server?
