Mailbox Agent ID's and BES servers
Hi
On my BES server (4.1.5), there is a view to see which user is on which Messaging Agent.
It seems that the Messaging Agent corresponds to a mailbox server, and that BES assigns agents 1 - 5. What happens if the number of Exchange servers exceeds that number?
Also, is it considered wise to have only users on, say Exchange server 1-4, on BES, Exchange servers 5-8 on BES2 etc, and how does this affect the message agent? Is there anyway I can measure whether this will help?
Finally, is it possible to change a user's messaging agent and would there be any point to this?
Thx

Hi
We have about 8 Exchange servers and 2 BES servers....
At the moment, there has been no planning for BES, so users are randomly spread across the two BES servers. Would you recommend:
BES1: Exch 1 - 4
BES2: Exch 5 - 8
What else does the Mailbox Agent ID do?
Also, I can't see any capacity planning tools on the RIM site?

This solution is only available to members.
To access this solution, you must be a member of Experts Exchange.
Normally this should not b an issue, and 5 Exchange servers per BES serer seems like a reasonable arrangement.
In addition, I would try to group the users per Exchange server to minimize traffic, but again it depends on how many users total for both.
I would also see the capacity planning tools and info on the RIM site.
I hope this helps !
