I'm trying to setup a VPN host at my home. &nbsp;The host is on Windows XP Home Edition. &nbsp;Cox is the ISP and I have a Linksys wireless router. &nbsp;I want to be able to access this computer via the internet on my wireless laptop loaded with Vista.<br />

I have the XP box setup to accept Incoming connections. &nbsp;Not sure if I should keep the DHCP option or setup a static IP. &nbsp;If the latter, does it matter what I enter? &nbsp;Do I need to make any changes to my wireless router to permit access? &nbsp;How to I access this from the outside. &nbsp;The IP of the XP box is usually something like 192.168.1.1 which is just internal I believe.<br />

Setup / Access Cox and Internet

A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that uses a public telecommunication infrastructure, such as the Internet, to provide remote offices or travelling users access to a central organizational network securely. VPNs encapsulate data transfers using secure cryptographic methods and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the network and that the data cannot be intercepted.
