SQl Server 2005 Express to AS/400 DB2 Problem

Hi,

We had a server crash earlier in the month.  The server hosted a customized intranet that was linked to a SQL server.  The SQL server was also linked to our AS/400 i-Series server.  I can't figure out how to re establish the connection between the SQL and AS400.  I can ping the AS400, log into through client access, and test a UDL connection... BUT SQL will not see it.  I've also tried Linked Server in SQL with out success.

I'm sure it's either the DSN config, Linked Server values, or a SQL config...  Need some help!

I would need details because I'm a network guy than a programmer...

Thanks!

Hi Bondcote,

The box that is running SQL will need to have the DB2 client, ODBC, or JDBC driver installed.

Good Luck,
Kent

Kdo, thank you for your comment...

I've downloaded the lastest DB2 client from IBM but I have no idea how to set it up?  Would you know how too?

Thanks,
Bondcote

The setup process should be pretty straight forward.  Just follow the on-screen instructions.

Here's the IBM installation instructions.  (It doesn't say much.)  :(

Operating Systems

Operating systems perform basic tasks, such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories on the disk, and controlling peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers. For large systems, the operating system makes sure that different programs and users running at the same time do not interfere with each other. The operating system is also responsible for security, ensuring that unauthorized users do not access the system. Operating systems provide a software platform on top of which other programs, called application programs, can run.
