I had tried removing SAV from the work station but not the server. &nbsp;As soon as I diabled realtime protection on the server the problem went away. &nbsp;Kind of a Duh! on my part. &nbsp;Thanks.

My users are using office 2003 on Vista Ultimate PCs. &nbsp;Their files are on a Dell PowerEdge Server running Server 2008. &nbsp;Word files open instantly but it takes 30 seconds to open Excel files and in some cases it takes up to 2 minutes to save changes to word documents.
