Multiple Perflib error in VMware

Here is the problem:

Checking through the errors logs today on my server I got the shock of my life! It seems about every three seconds I get a Perflib error in VMware. (over 120,000 errors in 7 days)

Error:
Windows cannot load extensible counter DLL Vmware, the first DWORD in data section is the Windows error code.

The problem is I'm sure this is causing the network lag I have been having lately. The Vmware hosts windows server2003 and contains a business related application that had to be installed separate from the main SBS server 2003 because of sql (the business related application is using Oracle).

I have a very good network that moves all data through the server, running DHCP, file/print sharing, sql, AD, DC etc.

I have had no problem until I installed this VMware. I will explain

We needed to install a new business related application, The tech's from this company had me install Vmware from MS (the latest). It turned out that this version (the new one) wouldn't fit there needs, so they installed an older version (i'm thinking 1.0.5), and they say I should NOT upgrade.

So now I'm in a bind, I cant upgrade, so if microsoft fixed this error in VMware r2 I'm screwed. Does anybody have any answers?

Windows Server 2003
Windows Server 2003

Windows Server 2003 was based on Windows XP and was released in four editions: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. It also had derivative versions for clusters, storage and Microsoft’s Small Business Server. Important upgrades included integrating Internet Information Services (IIS), improvements to Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GP), and the migration to Automated System Recovery (ASR).
