SuSE 9 SP4 failing to boot on ESXi

I have a SuSE 9 VM which under SP3 was working perfectly fine on it's VMware ESXi host.  I recently upgraded to SP4  (Kernel 308) and the VM will no longer boot. Can anyone help?

can you post what is not working. Is it that the VM does not power up or is that the SUSE 9 SP4 VM does not load the OS. There should be some info which would tell what is not working.

Screen shots if you are using VI client which would let us understand the situation.

The VM no longer recognised the Virtual Disk.  If I get the Virtual Machine to boot from the SP4 media it also does not recognise the virtual disk if I try to build a new VM.

what is the scsi controller that you have selected for the suse box. Verify if the same scsi controller is supported by SUSE 9 SP4

the scsi controller you choose when you are creating the VM, which is generally LSI logic

I have tried both LSI and Buslogic and the same problem occurs with both types. According to the following forum thread http://communities.vmware.com/thread/118926 which refers the same problem there is afix under ESX Server, but I can't seem to find the same for ESXi.  Does anyone know if the same ESX Server fix can be applied to ESXi?

Looks like by updating to update 3 will resolve the problem.  Unfirtunately I can not apply the update immediately so can not be sure.  I didn't want to leave the question open, but am confident the suggested path will remedy the problem.  Thanks.
