Is windows firewall secure enough - win 2003 webserver
Hi
I'm looking into a virtual server to host about 30 websites
The host doesn't offer a firewall, so i'm stuck with windows firewall
My questions is, can it be locked down enough to protect the public facing internet, or am i asking for trouble?
My other server sit behind a sonicwall 2040 pro which is great, however, i need to know if win 2003 server firewall can be locked down enough.

Its a basic firewall but personally I would not use it to secure my environment.
It's better then nothing, but I would go for something else. Win2003 FW is just a one way packet filter.

depends on the information stored on that server and how each website is written.
In general, it's ok as long as you remove all exceptions in the firewall setting. I would definitely use a hardware based firewall, even a cheap Dlink.

hardware based firewall isn't an option as its a virtual server in a hosting centre which i dont have access too, so not even worth talking about.
Its a webserver running asp.net websites
so would you say to stay clear of it then?
