Setup Webdav to use host credentials.

I have been working to migrate from FTP to Webdav to allow users to more securely download files. I have Webdav setup & working using SSL. The problem I am having is that it is prompting for a username and password. It was my understanding that Webdav could use the host credentials when accessed from a host that is part of an active directory domain and not prompt the user for credentials, unless they are accessing Webdav from a system that is not part of the domain.

What am I missing?

If you plan to use Active Directory authentication for WebDAV check Integrated Windows authentication and uncheck all other authentication methods and Enable anonymous access.

I have tried it with Integrated Windows Authentication enabled and still get prompted for a username and password.

If I enable anonymous access wouldn't that allow anyone to access the site?
I haven't setup WebDAV under IIS, only under Apache.

I did a quick bit of research and found this article that might be a bit more help...

WebDAV for Remote Access

NOTE: Check the last paragraph under the 'Setting Up Secure WebDAV' section. It seems to hint about a way to allow AD users on not getting prompted.

I read that same article during the initial setup and have tried different variations of the authentication methods. Unfortunately none of them have resolved my problem. I've read a couple of articles regarding exchange and webdav, which require modifications to the web.config file, but I have been unable to get that to work for my scenario.

Thank you for the help though.
