creating a dual boot

I want to create a dual boot on my dell, it is currently running Vista, and I want to add XP and create a dual boot. How do I go about doing this?

First and important point, if that is a new laptop, you need to either slip stream SATA drivers or dsable the AHCI mode. This because XP wont detect the HDD if it is not in normal SATA operation mode.

If the above issue is taken care of, then rest of the process is quite normal like booting with XP CD and install into the desired partition.

I am not sure if you are supposed to install XP OS and then Vista because the boot.ini entries gets manipulated when XP is installed after Vista and you wont be able to boot Vista until the boot.in is fixed. I am not sure about this as i have never done this with Vista.
