I am having a problem trying to install Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager I cannot get past a few pre reqs.  I have attached the following in hopes that someone has had better success than I an can assist

I am running Windows 2003 R2 x64 SP2
SQL 2005 Standard with SP2
I have installed WSUS server with SP1

I get warnings and errors on the following
WSUS 3.0 SP1 is required on site server;    Error;    Configuration Manager software update points require Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) version 3.0 SP1 or later.  If using a remote software update point, the WSUS administration console must be installed on the site server.  For more information on WSUS installation see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=79477.

Windows Server 2003-based schannel hotfix;    Warning;    Configuration Manager out of band service point requires Windows Server 2003-based schannel hotfix. The schannel hotfix is available for download at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942841/en-us.

Windows Remote Management (WinRM) v1.1;    Warning;    WinRM v1.1 is required to run the out of band console and must be installed before primary site or Configuration Manager console installations or upgrades. WinRM 1.1 is available for download at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB936059.

MMC updates for Configuration Manager (Software Updates);    Warning;    This software update addresses several MMC errors that may occur when running the Configuration Manager console. This update should be applied if any of the following occur: Configuration Manager console stops responding when the host computer is low on available memory, context menu errors on console home pages, or inconsistent display after drag-and-drop operations do not succeed. More information about this update is available at: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=98349.

Failed to connect to registry for KB941078 with 183.
<02-03-2009 17:38:44> ROBCO-SRVR1;    .NET update for Configuration Manager (Software Updates);    Warning;    This software update addresses a browse dialog box error that might occur when the Configuration Manager console is installed on computers with 64-bit microprocessors. This update should be applied only to computers experiencing this particular issue. More information about this update is available at: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=98350.

SQL Server sysadmin rights;    Error;    Either the user account running Configuration Manager Setup does not have sysadmin SQL Server role permissions on the SQL Server instance targeted for site database installation or the SQL Server instance could not be contacted to verify permissions. Setup cannot continue.

BITS installed;    Error;    Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is required for the management point and BITS-enabled distribution point site system roles. Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is not installed and/or IIS 6 WMI compatibility component for IIS7 is not installed on this computer or remote IIS host, or setup was unable to verify remote IIS settings because IIS common components were not installed on the site server computer. ConfigMgr requires BITS be installed and enabled in Internet Information Services (IIS) before setup can continue. Setup cannot continue.

BITSEXTS is not installed on ROBCO-SRVR1.
<02-03-2009 17:39:45> ROBCO-SRVR1;    BITS enabled;    Error;    Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is required for the management point and BITS-enabled distribution point site system roles. Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is not configured properly and/or IIS 6 WMI compatibility component for IIS7 is not installed on this computer or remote IIS host, or setup was unable to verify remote IIS settings because IIS common components were not installed on the site server computer. ConfigMgr requires BITS to be installed and enabled in Internet Information Services (IIS) before Setup can continue. Setup cannot continue.

BITSEXTS is not installed on ROBCO-SRVR1.

I have tried and installed several of the hot fixes with the same result.  From the logs it appears that I have a real mess on my hands.

Any help would be great.

This probably needs to be addressed right away:
SQL Server sysadmin rights;    Error;    Either the user account running Configuration Manager Setup does not have sysadmin SQL Server role permissions on the SQL Server instance targeted for site database installation or the SQL Server instance could not be contacted to verify permissions. Setup cannot continue.
You  have IIS installed, but do you have the Webdav and BITS roles installed?
WSUS can be added later: it just needs to be added before you try to add the software updates role.
Windows Remote Management (WinRM) v1.1....not critical.
If you aren't using out-of-band management, the schannel hotfix shouldn't be necessary.
If you can get BITS, Webdav and the SQL access problem squared away, it should let you pass the pre-req check.

You don't have to accept the first comment as the solution...you can ask more questions before accepting a solution.  Most of the problem areas already had web links explaining steps you can take.  It's hard to give specific steps without knowing all the details of your environment.
Do you have control over your own SQL server?  Do you have your own DBA?  There are database permissions, network permissions, COM permissions, etc. that all come into play that could give that error message.
For the SQL access problem...
- make sure you add the site server's computer account to the SQL server's local administrators group
- SPN is correctly registered (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb735885.aspx)

IIS - Reporting / Client Communications / WebDAV /BITS
Install and configure WebDAV for IIS 7.0 to support management point and BITS-enabled distribution point site system computers  - Because WebDAV IIS extensions required for the management point and BITS-enabled distribution point site system roles are not installed by default with IIS 7.0, WebDAV extensions must be manually installed and configured after installing IIS 7.0
To install and configure WebDAV for IIS 7.0 to support management point and BITS-enabled distribution point site system computers
Depending on your server operating system platform, download either the x86 or x64 version of WebDAV from: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=108052.
Depending on which version was downloaded, run either the webdav_x86_rtw.msi or the webdav_x64_rtw.msi file to install WebDAV IIS 7.0 extensions.
Enable WebDAV and create an Authoring Rule
Navigate to Start / All Programs / Administrative Tools / Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to start Internet Information Services 7 Application Server Manager. In Server Manager, select the Features node, and click Add Features to start the Add Features Wizard.
In the Connections pane, expand the Sites node in the navigation tree, and then click Default Web Site if you are using the default Web site for the site system or SMSWEB if you are using a custom Web site for the site system.
In the Features View, double-click WebDAV Authoring Rules.
When the WebDAV Authoring Rules page is displayed, in the Actions pane, click Enable WebDAV.
After WebDAV has been enabled, in the Actions pane, click Add Authoring Rule.
In the Add Authoring Rule dialog box, under Allow access to, click All content.
Under Allow access to this content to, click All users.
Under Permissions, click Read, and then click OK.
Change the property behavior as follows:
In the WebDAV Authoring Rules page, in the Actions pane, click WebDAV Settings.
In the WebDAV Settings page, under Property Behavior, set Allow anonymous property queries to True.
Set Allow Custom Properties to False.
Set Allow property queries with infinite depth to True.
If this is a BITS-enabled distribution point, under WebDAV Behavior, set Allow hidden files to be listed to True.
In the Action pane, click Apply.
Close Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager

You must go into the IIS role on the server you wish to install SCCM on, and enable WebDav.

This is because you may have installed WebDav as a Server 2008 feature, but it then has to be enabled in ISS.

Here is an excellent guide I found on how to do this:
