I changed ISP's from a local one to verizon.
I am keeping my email account on original ISP 9 as I maintain another account there
I can receive emails but not send ... receive  550 5.7.1 error on bounced back messages
How do I set up proper authentifcation?

ISPs usually don't allow people to send email through their servers unless you are connected to their network.  As you are not longer on your old ISPs network they aren't letting you use their outgoing mail server.

You have a couple of options - No 1 being the best.

    1) In you email account settings there will be an option to provide a username and password for your outgoing mail server - use the tick box that says use the same login details as your incoming mail server.  You don't say which mail client you are using so I can't give detailed instructions.  However, in outlook its hidden under the more settings button.  This may, or may not work depending on how your old ISP's server is setup.

    2) You can use the Verizon server to send email.  You will need to change the SMTP server in your mail settings to  Leave the POP3 or IMAP server pointing at your old ISP.
