Probllems Printing in A4 with Crystal Reports

Hi There!

We have a client using a product called counterintelligence which uses crystal reports to generate daily reports. I am told they are using the v10 activex component to generate rpt files daily. They are using Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer to print to screen.

Basically the client generates reports as part of nightly system maint. The reports are generated based on whatever the default printer is, and whilst usually its an A4 printer, occasionally it ends up being the label printer they use at this site. Having said this, if I print to screen with an A4 Brother Printer selected regardless of the fact the rpt is generated in 8x3 format, it prints to screen in A4. However we use terminal server printing emulation software called Net2Printer and if THIS is selected as default (which is the desired printer) the reports show on screen as 12,000 tiny labels :(

I am trying to determine what the activex component is getting from the brother locally installed driver that the Net2Printer software isn't providing Crystal Reports that is stopping the N2P printer working correctly.

Crystal uses the default printer to produce the report.

Does Net2Printer have an A4 paper option?

Yes the driver it set to use A4, but it still prints to screen as labels if the labels were generated in label size (Ie reports were generated whilst label printer was set as default.)

Crystal uses the default printer and sets the report up that way.

Try opening the report and changing the printer then saving it again.

Hi there!

Thanks for the information, however I don't think you understand the issue. Basically when we print the report to screen it doesn't print in A4, even though the printer (net2printer) is set to A4.  If we do the exact same report but the brother locally installed printer is selected it prints to screen in A4 format.

Basically I am trying to determine, what A Brother locally installed A4 Printer is giving the activex component that net2printer isn't.
