initial userid and password for phpmyadmin on ubuntu

I succeeded in getting phpmyadmin running on my browser. However, it asks me for userid and password to access it. I don't remember setting up the userid and password. Is there an initial userrid and password. I tried my ubuntu usserid and passwor dbut it did not work. Thanks
