Hi: I just installed LInux 8.10. I need to input Chinese character in open office work processor. I downloaded Chinese by selecting Chinese in System->Administration->Language Support. But chinese input does not appear after I press ctrl+space, or shift+space. Any suggestions?

You might need to install the following packages:

openoffice.org-l10n-zh-cn - Chinese_simplified language package for OpenOffice.org
openoffice.org-l10n-zh-tw - Chinese_traditional language package for OpenOffice.org

You shouldn't need to download all those packages separately - apt should manage the dependencies automatically
