Hi shiva,

you can't delete a hdisk which is part of an online VG. Don't try it, it's not possible - fortunately.
Use synclvodm oravg, as I said above, then try again reducevg oravg hdisk45.

Btw., what did you mean with "lsvg -l oravg is empty" ? Really? No more LVs in the whole VG?
If this was really so (I don't believe it), you could do something very simple to get rid of your hdisk problems.

But first, try the synclvodm and post the output of lsvg -l oravg and lsvg -p oravg, if you like, so we can see a bit clearer whats going on.

Cheers

wmp

Have you tried to run `rmlv` to destroy the logical volumes before `reducevg`?
What exactly is the error message you're getting?
What does your VG look like currently?`

Please post the output of:

lsvg -l oravg

You will then see logical volumes that are part of this volume group. For each lv, post the output of:

lslv -l LVNAME

It seems as if something is pretty wrong with your hdisk45. Have you tried to remove the device from the database?

rmdev -d hdisk45

To find out what process blocks /dev/hdisk45 use:

fuser /dev/hdisk45

This will get you a list of process IDs that currently are busy on this device.
